Is Capture One really expensive anymore?Ĭapture One, with its variety of license options, provides flexibility. I have earlier reviewed Capture One in one of my articles. It is the 13th generation of Capture One software, but with its recent changes of license options, it is appealing to a wider range of photographers, instead of only being for high-end photography. We will take a look at what is up and down concerning licenses for Capture One. Phase One changed the market with its new license approach for Capture One. When you export an image it is processed again from start.Abode Lightroom was once the gold standard for photographers looking to streamline their workflow and have a process for cataloging, managing, and editing their pictures – all in one place. The raw file itself is not modified (just like in LR) - it just saves the commands to do all the edits you did. Any editing you do is immediately saved there's no reason to be afraid of crashes. The photo is not "open" in any meaningful sense - it is just displayed. Ok, that's a good indication that you want to use sessions and not the catalog in C1. I'll have a look at that very soon - and thank you. It would really annoying if there was a hiccup and the program or Windows closed before I'd exported and saved the edited images. I'm not used to having 20 edited photos open at the one time. OK - This is something I've got to get my head around. Typically, you'd also export only after editing multiple shots, not each one separately. My problem is how to get rid of the edited photo before I open another for editing. Then just click on the next raw file you want to edit. If you don't see a browser view, you can show it by using "View->Browser" (or Command-B on the mac - I don't know the Windows shortcut). You typically have a whole folder of images open. I loathe Lightroom with a passion because of the catalogue and the lack of the simplicity of ACR in Photoshop. ![]() I never edit more than 20 shots in a single sitting. Perhaps the short interface tutorial would be a good place to start: ![]() You'd probably have an easier time if you came from Lightroom. Seems you want to use it like Photoshop to edit individual shots. It is late here at the moment in Australia, I shall have a look in the morning and see if I can help you otu. Sort of like the Nikon Capture NXD where you have a strip of small images in that folder to choose from and thus edit. I think you need to get your display set correctly so that you have a strip of your RAW photos in that folder displayed for you to choose to edit. Probably something very basic, but I'm stumped at the moment. I cannot for the life of me find any way of closing it out to open another. Then there is a problem - I am left with the picture, still open, on my screen. I then edit the photo, export it and save it to a folder of my choice. Have been totally involved with Photoshop for too long to remember. I have had it for a couple of years but have not really used it. You can fill in a subject that is in shadow, and use "refine edge" which fills it in perfectly and then apply exposure to adjust it perfectly to suit - no overlap showing am edge of where you've done the adjustment. The masking system with layers is great, especially when used with "refine edge" etc. I really want to give PhotoShop the flick. It does not yet support the High Efficiency RAWs though. Capture One Pro 22 supports Z9 RAW files. ![]()
